Darkness 8 Year Old is a captivating Speyside single malt that takes you on a journey through a symphony of flavors. Aged for eight years in ex-bourbon barrels, it develops a rich character, unveiling notes of candied orange peels, chocolate peanuts, and warm cooking spices, enveloped in a hint of dried cherry. The whisky then undergoes a unique finishing process, spending at least three months in custom-made Oloroso sherry octave casks, imparting a delightful complexity. On the palate, it tantalizes with amaretti biscuits, subtly toasty hints, and a powerful presence of raisins and prunes, complemented by a lingering touch of earthy oak. The finish is slightly oily, with a subtle hint of smoke, yet the chocolatey notes persist, leaving a lasting impression. Bottled at its natural color and without chill-filtration, this 70cl expression is a true representation of the art of whisky-making, a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation.
